In June, Digpro received ISO 27001 certification for its work in information security. Security, which is high on the agenda for companies working with critical infrastructure, has always been a priority at Digpro. Digpro’s systems are used by customers who deliver fiber, electricity, water, gas, and heat—amenities that are difficult to live without in modern societies and could, in the worst-case scenario, become targets for foreign powers and cyberattacks. It is of utmost importance that data is handled securely.
To cement the ambition to always manage data in the safest way possible, both in terms of Digpro’s customers and its own work routines, Digpro has applied for and been awarded ISO 27001 certification.
Emma Lundberg is the CISO (Chief Information Security Officer) at Digpro and has led the certification process.
“At Digpro, we have always handled data in a secure and respectful manner. Our customers have been able to trust that their data is in safe hands. Security is part of our mindset, as shown in every release. With the ISO 27001 certification, we now have proof that we work actively and purposefully with information security,” says Emma. “It’s timely to continuously develop and improve security. When we look at the world around us, many frightening things are happening, and data that falls into the wrong hands can be misused. Therefore, it is important that our customers know we have routines that meet the regulatory requirements set by ISO.”
This is confirmed by Jonas Vestin, Group CEO at Digpro.
“Our customers’ security is the most important thing. We have long worked according to the ISO standard, and now we have received confirmation of this. As a market-leading software provider in the fiber, electricity, water, heat, and gas industries, we have a tremendous responsibility to ensure that our customers have the digital support they need for these services to function. I am proud that we can now also show on paper how serious we are about security. Our customers all actively work with security, and it is especially appreciated in procurements that we take it very seriously.”
Physical security at Digpro has also been improved.
“Some adjustments have been made to our offices in Sweden and Poland,” says Emma. “Otherwise, it’s mainly about everyone who works at Digpro undergoing additional training to raise security awareness. We will also be able to set specific requirements for our customers and suppliers regarding secure data management. Everyone knows how important it is and appreciates that we are thorough. It has been a rewarding project, and now I look forward to us living up to the requirements that ISO 27001 certification imposes on us.”
What is ISO 27001?
ISO 27001 is a management system designed to help organizations seeking to improve control over information security. An ISO 27001 certification means that Digpro can prove that all work related to information security is conducted in a structured and methodical way, according to the requirements needed to meet regulatory standards. The internationally recognized standard is developed and verified by experts around the world and is proof that an organization’s information security is at an exceptionally high level.
